Designed for those with no prior experience in nursing, this degree prepares students for careers as Registered Nurses in hospitals and other community healthcare settings. Typically a 4 or 5-year program, the Pre-Licensure BSN program includes both general education subjects and nursing courses as part of the curriculum. The first two years are devoted to liberal arts and general education while the last two or three concentrate specifically on nursing and its associated skills. Graduates of this degree must take the licensure examination NCLEX-RN, administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, to become Registered Nurses.
